I’ve been a published author for over a decade now, and I’m still a psychologist, too. I actually specialize in neuropsychology, and I work as Director of Psychology in a majestic state psychiatric facility in Kentucky. When I blog about my workplace–especially to post the much-requested spooky pictures I sometimes find–I refer to it as the Old Asylum.
I live with my wife on a bird farm in Kentucky. When I blog about my beloved, I usually refer to her as Darling. My son actually gets his name, JB Redmond, since he’s a published author, too. My daughter doesn’t have a steady nickname, since she defies quick description. My grandson, of course, is MostAdorableGrandson, or MAG for short.
I might post about books, book reviews, writing, mental health issues, pets, life on the bird farm, the Old Asylum, Only in Kentucky, places where those things cross over (like mental health issues and writing), or anything else that catches my fancy.
Nothing on my website or blog should be construed as medical or psychiatric/ psychological advice or a substitute for mental health treatment. It’s all just my take on the world around me, and a way to talk to my readers and friends.

9, if you don’t count chickens, and peafowl. Parrots count, though. Parrots always count double. Just ask them. The first parrot I had, Frank, who starred in Going Underground, passed away, and I still miss her very much. I have Weezie now, another African Grey, and I adore her–my little feathered sound effects machine!

Where do I live?
I live in a log home in the woods. No really. I do. It’s in Western Kentucky. I love it a lot. It has a wraparound porch, rocking chairs, and I seriously want a hammock GOT A HAMMOCK! YESSSS!!!
Where do I work?
I work in the Old Asylum.
So, are you a psychologist or an author?
I’m both! But this site is about my writing. When I work as a psychologist, it’s only at the Old Asylum. I don’t do any psychology stuff online.
What do I read?
Everything! But my first and biggest loves are fantasy and science fiction.
What kind of music do I like best?
Adult Alternative
Do you listen to music when you write?
Yep. Every novel has a soundtrack. I can even play the same song over and over while writing particular scenes. This is why I have a writing cabin–so my family doesn’t put me out with the trash!
Can I email you and ask more questions for my report?
Absolutely, but sometimes it takes me a few days to answer, so don’t wait until the last minute. And, those “thought questions” your teacher asked, I’ll be nudging you to answer those on your own.
